County Dublin (Irish: Contae Bhaile Átha Cliath or Contae Átha Cliath) is one of the thirty-two traditional counties of Ireland. Prior to 1994 it was also an administrative county covering the whole county outside of Dublin City Council. In 1994, as part of a reorganisation of local government within Dublin the boundaries of Dublin City were redrawn, Dublin County Council was abolished and three new administrative county councils were established: Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown, Fingal and South Dublin.
While it is no longer used as an administrative division for local government, it retains a strong identity in popular culture. It is in the province of Leinster, and is named after the city of Dublin, the capital city of Ireland. County Dublin was one of the first parts of Ireland to be shired by John, King of England following the Norman invasion of Ireland. 
According to the 2016 census, the total population of County Dublin was 1,345,402, approximately 27% of the Republic of Ireland's population. The county is a NUTS 3 region, and is part of the NUTS 2 region of Eastern and Midland.

Merrion is a suburban area located about 4 km south east of Dublin City, situated along the Merrion Road between Ballsbridge to the north and Booterstown to the south.
This stretch of road, about 1 km long contains a shopping mall (the Merrion Centre), St. Vincent's University Hospital, a Catholic church, the Merrion Inn public house, a petrol station, a bank, restaurant and various other retail outlets.
It lies within the Dublin City Council area ends on the border between Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and Dublin City Council near Merrion Gates.

Drimnagh (Irish: Droimneach) is a suburb of Dublin, Ireland, situated on the Southside of the city between Walkinstown, Crumlin and Inchicore, bordered by the Grand Canal to the north and east. Drimnagh is in postal district Dublin 12.

Dolphin's Barn (Irish: An Carnán, meaning "the parcel") is an inner city suburb of Dublin, Ireland, situated on the Southside of the city in the Dublin 8, and partially in the Dublin 12, postal district. Its name derives from a family named Dolphyn who once owned a prominent storehouse there. Surrounding areas include The Liberties, Inchicore, Islandbridge, Kilmainham and Crumlin. It is home to one of the city's fire stations which is situated on the corner of Parnell Road and Rutland Avenue. The Grand Canal passes through the centre of the locality under Dolphin's Barn Bridge.
